Report: Rosatom to allocate $15 bln for Turkey’s Akkuyu nuke plant

MOSCOW, Jul 29 (PRIME) -- Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom will allocate U.S. $15 billion for the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Turkey, which will cover 75% of the project’s costs, A Haber television channel reported on Friday.

Of the sum, $5 billion has already been sent, and the remaining $10 billion will be paid in two tranches during two weeks, it also reported.

The Akkuyu plant will comprise four units with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts each. Turkey expects to launch the first unit in 2023 and to start its commercial use in May 2024. The launch of the second unit for commercial use is expected in May 2025.
